Executive Words: Game Night Next Week

September 20, 2017

Opinion

This year, executives from Scholar Government will be writing a monthly column for The Catalyst, in order to keep the scholars at ASK informed about what happens during weekly government meetings. These opinions are the views of SG  and do not necessarily reflect the views of The Catalyst. Comments and suggestions are encouraged.

Hello, ASK Scholars!

My name is Ryan Medina, and I am writing to you as your Scholar Government President. You voted Vice President Matthew Gardiner and me into these offices with the promise of amenities for the school and more events to help you unwind. We are keeping those promises.

In our August 28 meeting, the Scholar Government began planning a Game Night for the month of September. For those of you who are new to the school, or who have never attended a Game Night before, they consist of video games, concessions, and even rooms designated to board and card games. It is a great chance to come hang out with friends, compete in video game contests, and just relax after a hard week of school. The first Game Night of the year will be  next Thursday the 28th. Please keep your eye out for more information.

In this meeting, we also discussed collecting tennis balls to put on the bottoms of chairs. You all know the horrible screeching sound that the chairs at this school have a habit of making when someone shifts their seat in just the right way. We are seeking to eliminate that, but we need your help. We will be asking for donations of tennis balls as soon as we organize a way to collect them and we would like your help.

Expect to see more columns like this. The executive members of Scholar Government, Matt Gardiner, Haely Katt, Maddy Snyder, Gabi Orr, and myself, now have the chance to communicate with you via the ASK Catalyst every month. We will use this medium as well as emails, announcements, and posters to make sure you know what is going on in your school, so remember to check in when you can. If you have any comments, questions, or concerns, please feel free to contact us at askgov@theaskacademy.org, or better yet, come sit in on a meeting. We get together every Monday immediately after school in room 208 and would be happy to have you.
